Job Description

The Amalgamated Sugar Company LLC is seeking a Logistics Manager. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for the strategic management of the scheduling, monitoring and administration of inbound and outbound shipments for goods and materials to support the company’s operations. This position will also be the principal, day-to-day contact for the company’s procurement and operations groups when logistics expertise and assistance is required to resolve problems, react to emergencies, provide costs analysis as well as project planning. This position develops and leads unified strategies to leverage company freight spend and aligns logistics support across the network to meet business needs.
More specifically, the Logistics Manager will oversee all logistics, transportation and freight activities for the company. This position will manage and lead the process for soliciting and evaluating rate bids, negotiating contracts and monitoring the shipment performance of transportation partners.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Ensure transport providers and equipment meet product and industry standards for food safety, quality and regulatory compliance, where applicable.
• Analyze and assess the financial and operational impact of transportation initiatives.
• Oversee the implementation and execution of systems or technology that disseminate logistics data to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with peers, customers, factories, external warehouses and transportation vendors in regards to service and cost management.
• Set priorities and define roles in support of cross functional work teams or projects, as applicable.
• Develop SOP’s to be used internally as well as with carrier partners.
• Develop and maintain excellent carrier relationships.
• Experience resolving complaints and vendor issues effectively and efficiently
• The ability to interact confidently with all levels of Senior Management

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
• Four Year degree with an emphasis in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations or Business.
• Six years of progressive work and supervisory experience in a transportation or supply chain environment.
• Understanding of transportation, supply chain, production planning and manufacturing in a food grade environment is a plus.
• Logistics experience with demonstrated examples of employing transport management systems, rail and truck rate negotiations and building sustainable relationships with third party providers.
