Food processing is considered a critical infrastructure industry by the Department of Homeland Security. As a food processor, Amalgamated Sugar has a special responsibility to maintain normal operations at our factories, warehouses and other locations while implementing required social distancing.
All Amalgamated Sugar employees who can perform their jobs from home are being required to do so. At our factories and warehouse locations, we have implemented Employee Health Prescreening Procedures for the employees who are relied on to maintain normal operations. Measures are being taken to limit contact and enhance cleaning to ensure we protect our employees.
Amalgamated Sugar understands public and customer concerns over food security and availability. Our commitment to safety and quality will not be deterred by these challenging times, and we will continue to supply the needs of our customers.
Amalgamated Sugar would like to express gratitude to the BCTGM Local Unions and all our employees who continue to go to work at our facilities to produce the critical food supply our nation needs.
At Amalgamated Sugar, we believe that we can all do our part to stop the spread and “flatten the curve” of COVID-19. By working with and taking care of one another, we will come out on the other side of this pandemic a stronger community.
