History of White Satin

In 1934, Amalgamated Sugar secured the trademark for White Satin® to market its satin-smooth sugar products. The White Satin® name has been used ever since.

White Satin® was originally promoted as "Oregon's Own and Only Sugar" before production grew into other areas of the Pacific Northwest. Amalgamated Sugar erected a large illuminated sign in Portland, Oregon in 1940 in the shape of the state of Oregon and featuring the words "White Satin Sugar". The sign still stands today, though it no longer displays White Satin Sugar. It became a registered historic landmark in 1977 and now promotes the city of Portland.

Amalgamated Sugar's White Satin® products are widely available in private label brands at various grocers around the Western United States.
